STAR’s 5th Annual Speaker’s Luncheon

On Thursday, April 6th we were thrilled to once again participate in STAR’s Annual Speaker’s Luncheon.  STAR began in 1952 by parents with a vision.  Their vision was to give children with disabilities the same opportunities that children without them have, to see beyond the disability, and see what they can do, accomplish and achieve.  Today, STAR serves individuals of all ages with developmental disabilities, as well as providing their families with support services.

Each year STAR hosts their Annual Speaker’s Luncheon which features a guest speaker who has overcome different physical or mental challenges and has achieved truly amazing things despite those challenges.  This year their speaker was Jen Bricker, an unbelievably talented acrobat, aerialist, speaker and writer, who also just so happens to have been born with no legs. Jen is truly inspirational and shows others that there is nothing that can’t be accomplished when you believe in yourself!

We have been involved with STAR for many years and truly believe in this wonderful organization! Each year we provide goodie bags and donate silent auction items to help them raise money at their different fundraiser’s.  We think it is so important to support the organizations that are very near and dear to our hearts, and STAR is definitely one of them!  We are also so proud of Denise who came to us through STAR and works in our salon.  She always shows such enthusiasm for how she contributes through her responsibilities here, and we absolutely love having her here!
